Perfected Automation

Why 25 year old software developers can't fix medical clinics.

Perfected Automation

We have been 'tinkering' with applying automation and software to private medical clinics since 2010.

We have a saying,

"25 year old programmers write programs to solve 25 year old's problems"

Think of 4 large software companies and what problem do they solve? "Lyft, AirBNB, DoorDash, Tinder"

There is an old saying, "You pay a plumber $95 not to tighten a bolt in five minutes, they are paid because they know what bolt to tighten."
In the same thought, writing code to solve a problem isn't the hard part. The skill is knowing an industry so intimately, you know what problem to solve.

Another example is Text Reminder Systems. How many reminders are too much? My dentist is too much.
It is ridiculous, "Two weeks out, One week out, Two Days, Next day." Eventually I'm blocking reminders! What they never do is give me a 'Day Of' reminder. Mornings are hectic and people understandably lose focus outside routine behaviors. A little 'jostle' at 7:45 am reminds them not to go straight to the office this morning! Day before reminders are still necessary, but adding a Day-Of decreases no shows 25%. Another behavioral economic technique? Get some sweat equity the day before. Have them fill out a form, reply to a survey, send in updated insurance card. Any minor investment in the appointment on their part decreases no shows another 10-15%.

In the realm of software design, there's a principle known as "Eating your own dog food," which means using the products you create. At MedZec, this practice is at the core of our development process. Our solutions are crafted from the ground up to be truly effective, without introducing additional complications. I often remind our team, "Your job is to make my life easier, not harder." This philosophy extends to our software: it's designed to simplify, not complicate, the lives of those who use it. By adhering to this ethos, we ensure that our automation tools are genuinely beneficial, streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency across all facets of clinic management.
